About Rose Tarlow ~ Melrose House
Inspired by world travels and old fashioned things, and created to inspire beauty from the unexpected, Rose Tarlow is a world-class producer of fine furniture, textiles, lighting, and interior accessories. For more than 30 years the company has provided their clientele with only the finest objects for interior design, from exclusive antiques to the finest furniture pieces to textiles that reflect the quaint elegance and creative vision of its founder.
About Rose Tarlow: The woman behind the company is Rose Tarlow, interior designer, furniture maker, fabric artisan, and author, known worldwide for her exceptional design ethos. An influential and consummate professional in the interior design industry, she has served the market for more than 30 years, encompassing furniture and textile design, antique collecting, and overall interior decorating. She went on to design her own line of furniture in 1979 after opening her own antiques store in Los Angeles, R. Tarlow Antiques, in 1976. As an antique collector and seller, Rose Tarlow constantly found inspiration through her international travels. Her own furniture collections are inspired by beautiful objects she saw during her trips, while imbued with a personality distinctly their own.
Rose Tarlow Furniture and Fabrics: The range of furniture and fabrics available from Rose Tarlow are varied and exquisite, every single one of them a work of art in itself. Fabric, leather, trim, and wall coverings make up the entire textile collection. The furniture offerings include beautiful creations endowed with their own personalities - from tables and seating to casegoods, beds, mirrors, and fireplaces. Believing that the details are just as essential as the whole, Rose Tarlow also brings to the market lighting products and a range of accessories. Ceiling lights, wall sconces, floor lamps, and table lamps complete the entire lighting collection. To add the needed flair to any room, a line of accessories such as decorative mirrors, candle sticks, and oil lamps are also marketed by the designer brand. As a means to complement the gorgeous furniture pieces she designed, Rose Tarlow opened her own line of textiles in 1997. Widely represented through showrooms across the country while headquartered in Los Angeles, Rose Tarlow has been creating beautiful, timeless furniture pieces and textile collections for the past thirty years, and continues to do so through a discerning eye for the aesthetic and the distinctive.
Rose Tarlow Collaborations and Recognition: Spanning a career of more than thirty years, designer Rose Tarlow has collaborated with various organizations, including the University of California Los Angeles, where she established the Rose Tarlow Foundation for Women's Health. A supporter of medical research and development, she has also spearheaded the founding of Tarlow TEM Foundation. The works of Rose Tarlow have found favor with one of the most reputable architecture critics, Paul Goldberger of New Yorker. According to Goldberger, rooms designed by Tarlow "combine sensual pleasures with geometric rigor, and every one of them is simultaneously a lesson in design and a lesson in living."
The Latest from Rose Tarlow: New offerings from the company include furniture, textiles, rugs, lighting, and a range of accessories. Some of the latest selections include the Camus Dining Table, Bloomsbury fabrics in different shades, and Ollie rugs in a variety of styles. Designer Rose Tarlow has also released her own book on interior design, The Private House. In this book she highlights her discoveries as a designer and takes the reader into a tour of some of the most beautiful spaces she has designed, using her antiques, textiles, and furniture. To quote this master designer - "I'm not a writer. But words and furniture have a lot in common. Both are inanimate. They don't move themselves. But they can move you."
