A tradition of excellence and a deep respect for beauty defines the design philosophy of Porta Romana, world-class producer of luxury lighting home accessories. With a company vision built on style, historical references, and the essence of shape and form, Porta Romana continues to create luxurious and progressive designs that are a feast to the senses.

The History of Porta Romana: Porta Romana, based in the UK, was established by Andrew and Sarah Hills in 1988. The company was focused on creating things that take inspiration from art and beauty. For more than twenty years this UK-based studio has remain focused on their efforts at creating beautiful objects for the home and beyond, combining the art and skill of metalworking, glassblowing, furniture making, and even sculpting, to produce some of the finest and most innovative interior furnishings. Thus, it's not surprising to find Porta Romana creations installed in many of the world's most inspiring interiors, from posh, private homes to private yachts and hotels. Stationed at Surrey, England, Porta Romana is run by a team of artisans and a sales team devoted to customer service and satisfying individual specifications by many of the world's most discerning interior decorators. The company employs skilled individuals who possess the right technical knowledge in assembly and production, as well as expert painters who understand the detailed workmanship required in applying finishes. Quality control is maintained at all times, making sure that each product is transported from the studio to showroom or to clients across the globe in pristine condition.  Presently the UK Showroom is located at The Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour. Porta Romana pieces are also found in showrooms across the U.S., beginning in 2008 when the brand was first launched to the North American market.

Porta Romana Lighting Collections:  The lighting collections of Porta Romana are exquisite and wide ranging, although the company is more known for their beautiful, art-inspired lighting creations and accessories. The company designs and produces table lamps, floor lamps, wall sconces, lampshades, ceiling lights, mirrors, furniture, and interior accessories. The table lamps are either made from glass or sculpted and fashioned from metal. Their lampshades are sold in various shade sizes and types, made by using only the finest silks. The newest collection from Porta Romana is the Caledonia Collection, which feature table lamps, wall sconces, ceiling lights, floor lamps, and console tables in imaginative styling. Several of the offerings included in the collection are the Glass Pear Lamp, Kinetic Lamp, Giraffe Lamp in Decayed Gold or Silver, Stages Lamp in Antiqued Brass, Faceted Lamp, and many others. The new collection also showcases chandeliers, blossom lanterns, floor lamps and console tables, such as the Flynn Ballroom Chandelier, Blossom Lantern in Decayed Silver or White Gold finish, Tapering X Console Table, Twig Console Table, and Lost Console Table.

The Latest from Porta Romana: Porta Romana lighting collections and home accessories have been featured in various interior design magazines, such as Veranda, House & Garden, Elle Decoration, Design Centre London, as well as in Casa Magazine in Spanish. The February 2011 issue of House & Garden featured the Stages Desk Lamp, an original design by Gareth Devonald Smith for Porta Romana, made remarkable by individually cut brass, welded together and finished with a glossy patina. The Black faceted lamp with gray shade was featured in the October 2010 issue of The World of Interiors, Decoration Special.
