About Pindler and Pindler Fabric

Each of the Pindler & Pindler Fabrics has a story to tell. From beautiful fabrics inspired by historic mansions and fine art to textiles patterned from an ancient Mediterranean castle, Pindler & Pindler has always been known to create luxurious, elegant collections culled from the most memorable sources.

The Pindler & Pindler Fabrics Story: Pindler & Pindler Fabrics started through a humble upholstery fabric selling enterprise by one Matthew M. Pindler in 1941. Five years later his son Carl K. Pindler joined him in his business, establishing Pindler& Pindler as a partnership. Having created their brand emblem and opened their first showroom in 1947, the business began by targeting movie studios as their primary market. Eventually, large movie studios like MGM, Paramount, Columbia, 20th Century, and RKO were purchasing Pindler & Pindler Fabrics.  More than ten years after the initial success of his company, Matthew M. Pindler retired, leaving his son to the business. During Carl’s leadership more showrooms were opened, transfers to bigger offices were made, and a new logo was developed. Carl’s son Curt R. Pindler eventually joined the company and took over as President when his father passed away in 1988. The management of Pindler & Pindler Fabrics for the last 20 years by Curt R. Pindler helped the company evolve into what it is today, a business with a 60-year experience in the “art of fabric design and development.”

Signature Collections from Pindler & Pindler Fabrics: Pindler & Pindler Fabrics are available through three licensed collections, which are continually updated with new fabrics in a variety of materials, colorways, and patterns. The Newport Mansions Doris Duke Collections takes inspiration from the beautiful summer mansion of Doris Duke in Newport Rhode Island. Miss Duke, a wealthy heiress during the 1920’s, was known for her beautiful estates and her fine furniture and art collections. Through the Newport Mansions Doris Duke Collection, Pindler & Pindler Fabrics strives to capture the grace and the timeless sophistication of Doris Duke’s mansion and decorative collections. Elegant fabrics in complex weaves, silk damasks, and multipurpose embroidery inspired by classic Eastern European designs are available from this Pindler & Pindler Fabrics collection.  The Newport Mansions Collection takes form through some of the most important architectural marvels of America, the Newport, Rhode Island historic mansions. Pindler & Pindler Fabrics recreates many of the decorative elements found within and all over these eleven summer homes. From architectural elements to textiles and quality costumes, these homes have presented some of the most memorable influences for Pindler & Pindler and their textile collections.  Finally, the Hearst Castle Collection captures the enchantment and elegance of the Hearst Castle, also known as the Enchanted Hill. This Mediterranean revival mansion was designed beginning 1919, with the entire design work lasting through 3 decades, until the death of its owner, William Randolph Hearst. The collection features exquisite reproductions of embroideries found in one of the rooms of Hearst Castle, as well as a range of textiles in delicious Mediterranean-inspired colors for indoor and outdoor applications.

Pindler & Pindler Releases their Latest Collections:  The latest 2011 collections released by Pindler & Pindler Fabrics include signature indoor and outdoor fabrics, upholstery textiles in transitional designs, textural upholstery fabrics, and collections which make use of Sunbrella fabrics. The company is delighted to introduce their Hearst Castle Collection for Indoors and Outdoors using Sunbrella II yarns, the Montage Collection featuring a more vibrant, cutting –edge color palette, Signature Exclusive Upholstery using 2670-Loudon, the Fusion III Collection with edgy patterns, and the Newport Mansions Collection with two new patterns – Bandar and Ceylon. A Sunbrella Collection for the Newport Mansions Indoor and Outdoor fabrics are also one of the newest offerings from Pindler & Pindler Fabrics.
