About Kravet

One of the leaders in the industry of home furnishings design, production, and distribution, Kravet has been distributing a wide range of fabrics, furniture, trimmings, carpets, wall coverings, and decorative accessories to the trade for more than 90 years. Expanding from a family-managed fabric company in 1918, Kravet today is an international leader in the home furnishings market, offering a wealth of brands and representing the best designers in showrooms across the globe.

A Story that Began in 1918:  An industry leader in home furnishings, Kravet first stared in 1924 when Samuel Kravet, a Russian immigrant, arrived in the United States and offered tailoring services to a wealthy clientele. Named S.Kravet & Sons upon its inception, it is now a fourth-generation company and the largest privately owned distributor of fabrics and furnishings.  The founder's sons formed the company by distributing textiles and trimmings to the interior design market in 1924, and opened a Manhattan showroom in 1938.  In 1960, the company changed its name to Kravet Fabric Inc. It was during this period that the company opened additional offices in Long Island and furthered its expansion by distribution their products on the international market. Fourth-generation family members entered the business during the 80's and further growth required the business to open new warehouses in New York and South Carolina. Between 1990 and 1993 new brands and divisions were added to the company, and in 1995 Lee Jofa was purchased by Kravet. The company also acquired GP & J Baker in 2001 and Sea Cloth for Lee Jofa in 2008.

Kravet Fabric and Furniture Collections: An industry leader in the market of textiles available to-the-trade, the textile offerings of Kravet are sumptuous, versatile, and well-balanced. An assortment of colors, prints, patterns, and textures are available to satisfy every requirement for style, design, and functionality. Whether for the home, formal interiors, or contract use, this fabric house has a collection to satisfy every demand for style, practicality, and reliability. First and foremost a decorative textile company, Kravet also offers their upholstered furniture division, first established in 1992. The upholstered furniture division includes four lines:  Upholstery, Occasionals, Dining, and Smart. The company believes that any interior setting starts with beautiful furniture. Keeping this philosophy in mind, the company offers timeless furniture pieces, bespoke upholstered furniture, and beautiful accent pieces designed to suit a variety of interior environments. Kravet also offers high end couture fabrics inspired by fashion houses, allowing you to bring upscale fashion right into your homes and offices. The company moreover offers the hospitality and healthcare industries with a wide selection of textiles designed for high-performance installations. Also known as "Contract" fabrics, the collection includes durable woven textiles and heat transfer prints aimed at satisfying the functional and design prerequisites of various industries today.

Kravet in Recent News: As of 2010, this 4th-generation company has 42 showrooms, 50 agent showrooms and sales representatives worldwide. The Kravet family's dedication to innovation has transformed a small fabric house into a world leader in interiors and furnishings.  Kravet purchased Brunschwig & Fils, a fabric and furniture company operating for the last 110 years, on January 2011. The company has also introduced their latest fabric, trim, and wall paper collection, the Indochine Collection by Barbara Barry. Kravet brands today include Lee Jofa, Sea Cloth under Lee Jofa, Groundworks, GP & J Baker, Monkwell, and Mulberry Home. A private distributor of fabrics and furniture to the trade, the company also represents Ralph Lauren Home fabrics and Calvin Klein Home.
