How Julia Gray Came to Be: Julia Gray, LTD is a company founded by interior designer Julia Gray in 1987. While this maker of designer furniture has always used the finest materials and employed the best furniture making techniques, much of its success is attributable to its versatility in employing design and ability to produce tailor-made furniture pieces. The design industry recognizes Julia Gray as a leader in handmade furniture production, specializing in pieces that replicate old world European elegance, from chinoiserie armoires of the 1730's to 18th century French cabinets. Nonetheless, the most recent offerings from the brand have begun to maneuver into more contemporary styling, such as minimalist interpretations of neoclassical furniture.  As an artist and interior designer, Julia Gray draws inspiration from a wide range of sources, especially from traditional decorative furniture. It is not surprising therefore to find adaptations of the finest English chests, 18th century pieces, and Louis XVI furniture in their past and present collections. A team of skilled and talented artisans such as cabinet makers and upholsterers work together in the company's workroom. The kind of wood employed in many of these creations as well as the variety of their detailed finishes determines the quality and overall aesthetic appeal of each of the furniture. Solid birch, maple, cherry, and mahogany are used profusely in many of their collections. The furniture they create can be custom finished or resized according to request.

Classic European Design from Julia Gray: Julia Gray currently produces a range of European-styled interior furnishings from tables, chairs, and desks to beds, benches, and commodes. Cocktail tables and tea tables are designed in French floral decorations or finished off with gold leaf carvings. Benches and ottomans rendered with gold leaf trims, mahogany finishes, and Fontaine decorations call to mind the opulence of French royalty. Louis XVI four poster beds, as well as Sheraton and Italian four poster beds are available in custom finishes and a selection of sizes. Beautiful Louis XVI cabinets with chinoiserie styling and Louis XV armoires with floral decorations call to mind the timeless beauty of old French designs.  While these classic pieces have always been a staple for Julia Gray, the company recently ventured into making modern adaptations of neoclassical furniture as well as Directoire and Louis XVI furniture. The designer has also reinterpreted classic Art Deco furniture, incorporating silver trims into glossy finishes.

Julia Gray Awards and Recognition: Julia Gray was given the first ever annual BEST: MADE In America award on July 4, 2009. MADE In America chose the furniture company as the award recipient for their exquisite hand-crafted and hand-painted furniture collections, which are highly reflective of high-quality American design.

The flagship showroom of Julia Gray is located in New York, and further expansion has allowed the company to open additional showrooms in Ohio, Houston, Washington DC, Florida, and Chicago. Currently there are seven Julia Gray showrooms located in major design centers all over the U.S.
