About Hinson Fabric

Channeling the timeless all-American aesthetic through its selection of fine-quality textiles, Hinson Fabrics is known for its beautiful textures, prints and weaves. Acquired by Olivier Peardon in 2010 and distributed through Donghia Inc. beginning August 2011, Hinson Fabric has successfully retained its leading status among the many globally-respected luxury textile brands in the market today.

Hinson & Company:  The collections of Hinson Fabrics are being offered through Hinson & Company, a producer of fine-quality fabrics, wallpapers, furniture and lighting. This fabric and wallpaper company was first established in 1972 by Harry Hinson. The company, for the longest time, had been popular for their selections of beautiful hand-screened wallpapers, as well as distinctively American-styled Hinson Fabrics. The company is also a well-known lighting company, through its Hinson Lighting division. It was seventeen years ago that Hinson Lighting acquired Hansen Lamps. This acquisition has allowed Hinson Lighting to expand its offerings, including beautiful and innovative Hinson-Hansen lighting fixtures, carefully handmade by New York-based artisans. According to founder Harry Hinson, classic American design sits at the heart of Hinson & Company beginning its establishment more than four decades ago. This aesthetic, according to the founder, applies to both Hinson Fabric collections and Hinson wallpapers.

Hinson Fabric Collections:  Known for high-quality textiles that reflect the quintessential American style, Hinson Fabrics have always served as a classic choice for many designers and decorators around the world. Built for luxurious, warm indoors and sophisticated contract settings, the fabrics of Hinson & Co are a combination of classic, transitional and leading-edge. The brand is best known for their textured textiles, such as chenilles, available through a subtle color palette. Patterned Hinson Fabrics feature traditional to present-day styles, such as stripes and geometric shapes. Hinson Fabrics also offers sumptuous coordination prints and elegant weaves, which all reflect well-proportioned design and superior quality.  Known to offer simple yet elegant textiles to the high-end fabric market, Hinson Fabric has remained to be an iconic brand, distributed exclusively to interior decorators and designers all over the world.

Acquisition by the Peardons, Distribution by Donghia:  Hinson & Co, including Hinson Fabric, was bought out by the Peardons in 2010, with Olivier Peardon assuming the position of President and CEO. Founder Harry Hinson, however, remains to be a potent force within the company, albeit with a new role as Director of Design. In August 2011, Donghia announced that they will be distributing Hinson Fabrics through their national showrooms. Donghia is a world-renowned purveyor of fabrics, furniture, wallcoverings, and lighting, which are exclusively available to architects and interior designers. Speaking about the new partnership, President Crans Baldwin of Donghia expressed support to the Hinson name, as well as the decades-old work of its founder Harry Hinson. Mr. Hinson, on the other hand, viewed the association with Donghia to be a significant and dynamic one for Hinson & Company. In a press release published over at the Donghia website, Mr. Hinson had this to say about the distribution: “This is a significant opportunity for Hinson and I believe that the integrity of our brand will thrive with such an established company as Donghia. Our visions for growth and our commitment to superior quality are aligned.”
