The Story of Chuck Comeau: An art aficionado and a collector of antiques at heart, Charles “Chuck” Comeau never really understood the relevance of an art degree while he lived in rural Kansas. But after earning a degree in petroleum geology and working in the banking, cattle, and oil industries for several years he decided to put Dessin Fournir in 1993. The company produced beautiful interpretations of period furniture, from 18th century European casegoods to 19th century tables and 20th century lounges. Not long after founder Chuck Comeau sent photos of his home interior design project to Architectural Digest, to which the elite magazine expressed immense appreciation. Right then Chuck knew he could make a career out of designing. After establishing a production facility in Los Angeles, the founder used to travel between L.A. and Kansas to oversee operations. The business and production headquarters eventually moved to Plainville, Kansas, where Chuck says the environment is more peaceful and more conducive to productive, creative thinking. Over time Dessin Fournir grew into a veritable brand in designer furniture making, earning the title as one of the top 5 premier home furnishing companies in the United States.
