About Dakota Jackson Furniture

Specializing in custom furniture and innovative designs that provoke and please at the same time, Dakota Jackson is a leader when it comes to high-end furniture design and manufacture. Banking on its artistic ideals and craftsmanship values, the company is able to produce one-of-a-kind pieces that eventually get installed in some of the loftiest interior spaces, including celebrity homes. With its mission of making bespoke furniture easily available to decorators and designers, Dakota Jackson is one of the most credible names today in the furniture design and production trade.

The Beginnings of Dakota Jackson: Dakota Jackson is both an American designer and an American manufacturer of luxury furniture. Before making his foray into furniture design, Dakota Jackson used to be a performer and a dancer in the 1970s, associated with the Laura Dean and Tricia Brown companies. These artistic experiences, coupled with a family background on performing and magic, gave Mr. Jackson a unique aesthetic advantage and an unusual approach to discipline. He started by exhibiting his innovative furniture collections in SoHo galleries in New York during the seventies. Many of his pieces were known to possess unexpected elements, such as secret compartments. Eventually, major art museums took note of his non-conformist approach to design, commissioning him for collaborative work on several projects.  Dakota Jackson has worked with many notable clients, including David Yurman, a jewelry designer, for his boutique at Madison Avenue and the Pacific Design Center in L.A., collaborating with architect Peter Eisenman. He has also worked on other noteworthy projects such as the multi-tasking center for the Kip's Bay Boys' and Girls' Club Decorator Show House and the Temple Jeremiah project in Illinois where he designed an ark and a chapel. Today the furniture house operates two factories in New York, while the products are distributed through showrooms all over the country.

Dakota Jackson Furniture Collections:  The wide-ranging furniture collections from Dakota Jackson include seating, tables, beds, desks, and cabinets. The lounge seating collection features sofas, ottomans, loveseats, club chairs, and padded chairs. The more extensive chair selections from Dakota Jackson, including dining chairs, arm chairs, and stools are upholstered using a variety of quality fabrics and natural finishes. Dakota Jackson is also known for its entire range of exceptionally designed cabinets. Beautifully designed desks, from writing tables to hall desks to CEO desks are made using the finest hard woods and endowed with exceptional finishes. Tables range from dining tables and cocktail tables to occasional tables. Many of the designs, such as the self-winding cocktail tables, date to as far back as 1978. These classical contemporary designs now form part of the Dakota Jackson Classics Series.

Combining elements of wood, glass, and stainless steel, the furniture offerings of Dakota Jackson are elegant, stylish, and contemporary. Throughout 25 years the company has been producing groundbreaking furniture selections that earn the approval of discerning clients and the discriminating demands of the interior design trade. Already featured in House and Garden magazine and with an AIA award for Religious Structures bestowed on its designer and founder, Dakota Jackson continues to serve the interior design community through the design and production of custom furniture that reflect the preeminent in American craftsmanship.
