About Carvers' Guild Mirrors

Carvers Guild is a world-class manufacturer of decorative and period mirrors, with more than 40 years experience in the industry. The company recognizes the unique aesthetic and functional roles that mirrors play in any interior space and strives to create exceptional pieces that mirror their design philosophy. Each exquisite piece is painstakingly hand-made and produced in their 19th century mill building in Massachusetts; where skilled craftsmen and women work together to create one-of-a-kind, timeless mirrors that evoke the unmistakable Carvers Guild style.

The History of Carvers Guild: Carvers Guild was born out of a romantic happily-ever after background sometime in 1961. When Carol Canner, then a painting student at the Rhode Island School of Design, opened her Provincetown portrait gallery in Cape Cod, she needed someone who could do the framing for her portraits. Carl Canner, then a Harvard student, was tasked to frame the portraits for Carol. When they married soon after, Carl thought of mounting mirrors into his handcrafted, beautifully carved picture frames, sourced from South Korea. Carvers Guild was established in 1964 and eventually reached the South Korean, Taiwanese, Belgian, and Italian markets.  Today, all of the mirrors from Carvers Guild are designed and produced in-house, where highly-skilled artisans work under one roof, in a 19th century structure surrounded by woods in West Groton, Massachusetts. With almost 400 mirror designs available and a 47-year history that gives Carvers Guild a unique industry advantage, the brand continues to reflect genuine American craftsmanship at its finest.

Carvers Guild Mirrors and Designs: With more than 357 mirrors to choose from, each of the offerings from Carvers Guild is made to suit every kind of interior space and lifestyle. Some of the most popular collections include Carol Canner Mirrors, Newport Mansions Mirrors, and Williamsburg Mirrors. There are traditional mirror designs and the less intricate, transitional styles as well. The company is known to reproduce some of the most beautiful antique mirrors as well as to produce all-original designs that take inspiration from natural landscapes and elements. Featuring 18th century designs, leaf themes, French style, Art Deco themes, and antique finishes, the mirror collections from Carvers Guild are versatile and finely crafted.

The Carvers Guild Designer: Carol Canner sits as the head designer of Carvers Guild, where many of her highly-acclaimed, original designs are transformed into beautiful pieces. She is also the co-founder of the company, along with her husband, Carl Canner. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design as a painting major, she has developed more than 60 unique finishes for Carvers Guild. In 1969 she received the "Best Design of the Year Award" by the New York Times. In 1998 she was also the recipient of the American Society of Furniture Designers' Pinnacle Award for her Songbirds collection. In 2006 Carvers Guild mirrors have been featured in Elle Décor. Carol Canner has also worked with some of the most prestigious clients in the country, such as the Newport Historical Society and Colonial Williamsburg, both decorative arts museums.

Through a collective philosophy of painstaking labor, highest quality, and extraordinary design, Carvers Guild has already carved a name for itself in the design industry; designing and producing decorative mirrors that breathe more life and style into any home and interior space.
