Buy Romo Fabrics: Vintage Inspired Fabrics

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Headquartered in England, Romo Fabrics is a family owned business with showrooms throughout the world.  They offer a complete line of fabric, trim and wallcoverings.  These range from the classic damasks and jacquards to the more contemporary chenilles and silks.   The trim collection features tiebacks, beaded braids, key tassels and pompom fringe all in colors that coordinate with other Romo fabrics. While many of their designs are inspired by vintage textiles, they are always looking for new styles and modern color palettes to add to their collection.

One fine example of this is the Simonii pattern shown in the photo below.  Romo Fabrics  has created a delightful mix of hot pink  color with oversized flowers that will add a bit of 1940′s glamour to a lady’s sitting room or teen’s bedroom.   This vibrant pattern does not need any help when it comes to getting noticed!  However, combining  it with simple furniture pieces upholstered in a solid fabric will allow it to “stand out”  yet prevent this exuberant pattern from overwhelming the room.

The very interesting color combination of  Dijon gold and Azure found in the Rubani collection by Romo Fabrics is a modern version of an antique textile from the 1930′s.   Stripes, botanicals and large and small scale florals all combine to create a warm yet modern interior.  Adding just a touch of chocolate brown gives this fabric a masculine feel that coordinates well with dark wood furniture.  If you live in the sunbelt this fabric is a great way to add the casualness of ferns and flowers to your space and avoid the expected pastels.  If you live in a climate that experiences seasons, the florals in the Rubani fabrics are grounded by the darker tones of the gold and brown and will not look out of place even during the coldest months.

Romo Fabrics will certainly make it easy to have a little fun with your fabric choices so step out of your comfort level and try something new.  A whimsical print or an unexpected color combination will give any dated room a facelift and add some personality to your home.
