About Bergamo Fabric
Offering exquisite upholstery and drapery fabrics for more than half a decade, Bergamo Fabrics is one of the most reputable names in the decorative textile industry. From its sumptuous collection of silks, damasks, weaves, and prints, to designer offerings from Armani and Lori Weitzner, Bergamo Fabric collections reflect the traditional excellence of a well-established textile company and the creative flair of its select designers.
History of Bergamo Fabrics: Bergamo Fabrics is one of the world leaders in the importation and distribution of upholstery and drapery fabrics. The very first Bergamo Fabric offerings were launched by Walter Easton in 1956, from a domestic mill in New York. Eventually the business began the importation of fine fabrics by Sahco and Rubelli. Dominating the market for more than 50 years, the company continues to cater to the needs of interior decorators and designers worldwide. Bergamo Fabrics is known mostly for their Sahco and Rubelli collections, each offering their distinct lines of exquisite fabrics. These collections, which include wovens, linens, silks, damasks, and prints, are designed to suit a variety of residential and contract projects. The company also works with some of the most renowned designers today, including Lori Weitzner, Ulf Moritz, Dominique Kieffer, and Armani. Headed by President Rosecrans Baldwin today, Bergamo has its showroom at the New York D&D building. Many of its collections are also distributed through trade showrooms and in Donghia showrooms. Donghia, Inc. is the sister company of Bergamo Fabrics.
Bergamo Fabric Collections: The brands and collections of Bergamo Fabric have contributed immensely to its reputation throughout the years. Bergamo Fabric is known mainly for its Rubelli Collections and Sahco Collections. The Rubelli Collections are furthermore sorted into the Rubelli Venezia, Dominique Kieffer, and Armani Casa collections. Sahco offers collections by designers Ulf Moritz and Lori Weitzner. The Rubelli Venezia collection is known for its Venetian style, and a tradition of quality that spans five generations. Luxurious and sophisticated Parisian style defines the Dominique Kieffer collection, while the Armani Casa collection represents the creative vision of renowned fashion designer Giorgio Armani for the modern home. Sahco Collections date back to 1840, when the Hesslein family started selling French silks and propelled the company to greater growth even after the World War II years. Throughout the years Sahco has been defined mainly by its beautiful silks, elegant staples in basic colors, and fashion-forward textiles. Two of the biggest designers of the Sahco Collection by Bergamo today are Ulf Moritz and Lori Weitzner. One of the most creative designers in the industry today, Ulf Moritz continues to reinvent textile styles through his design unique techniques and the use of less conventional materials. Lori Weitzner offers a classic mix of traditional and contemporary fabrics, with emphasis on color, texture, and painterly design.
The Latest from Bergamo Fabrics: In 2010 Donghia, Inc. and Bergamo Fabric, Inc. formally initiated a merger, resulting in the “overlapping ownership of the two companies”. The announcement of this merger was made by Bergamo and Donghia Inc. President Rosecrans Baldwin in a company press release. While improved efficiency and better service are to be expected out of the merger, President Baldwin assures their clients that the two brands will remain distinct from one another. Bergamo Fabric will continue producing their Sahco and Rubelli collections, while Donghia will be offering their new collections one season after another. In September 2010 Andrea Favaretto Rubelli was appointed CEO for Donghia Inc. and Bergamo Fabrics with its headquarters based in Mount Vernon, New York.
