About Zimmer & Rohde

Established in 1889 and privately owned until today, Zimmer + Rohde is a leading textile producer in the European continent. The company is known to manufacture signature textiles and furnishings in an array of innovative designs. Being an expert in the textile business, Zimmer + Rohde is one of the most reliable sources of top-of-the-line textiles for a range of interior applications. The company designers are constantly on the lookout for the freshest inspirations and the most exceptional materials, to ensure that each fabric, each collection produced is of world-class quality.

Zimmer + Rohde: 111 Years and Counting:  Max Marx and Ernst Rohde were working together for a textile wholesaler in Germany when they decided to leave their jobs and put up their own company instead. The two established Marx & Rohde on December 1, 1899, which was based in Frankfurt. The company started by supplying high quality fabrics to clients all over Europe.  In 1919 Georg Zimmer, who was the husband of Rohde's daughter, joined the firm. Zimmer was instrumental in helping the company deal with the setbacks brought about by the First World War, leading the company through the crisis with much success. When Rohde's partner Max Marx died in 1933, the company was renamed Zimmer + Rohde. When the Second World War brought significant devastation to Frankfurt, it was Georg Zimmer who saved the fabrics, bringing them with him as he left the region. After the war he was able to rebuild Zimmer + Rohde from the ground up.  George died in 1950, and soon his sons took over. Horst and Ernst-Georg started exporting more textiles and in 1968 the company began to manufacture their own fabrics, with Horst Zimmer working with some of the most talented freelance designers during the time. Andreas, Horst's son, joined the fabric house in 1983 and headed the entire firm four years later. With a newly established creative department and a team of skilled textile artisans, Zimmer +Rohde began weaving its own signature styles, lending the fabrics and the collections with personalities unique unto themselves.

Zimmer + Rohde Collections:  The Zimmer + Rohde collections encompass fabrics, wallpaper, and furniture. The company maintains several division brands for their fabrics, which include Zimmer + Rohde, Ardecora, Etamine, Travers, Warner Fabrics, Hodsoll McKenzie, and Cetec.  The Zimmer + Rohde label evokes timeless elegance through their modern classic, coordinated offerings. Ardecora is the company's Italian brand, known for their luscious velvets, sumptuous silks, and beautifully intricate damasks. The Etamine collection is all about the French lifestyle, incorporated with lovely Mediterranean elements. Hodsoll McKenzie collections are British-inspired, offering sophisticated wools, silks, and cottons. The Travers label is inspired by the English country lifestyle, while Warner Fabrics pay homage to traditional nobility.

The Latest Zimmer + Rohde Offerings: Zimmer + Rohde has released their latest collection, Coming Home, which includes silks in ethnic inspired prints, exquisitely printed linen, detailed embroideries, and the latest jacquard fabrics. The Coming Home collection is created to produce uniquely beautiful, comfortable interiors. They have also released their Classical Beauty collection for spring 2011, which features attractive leather upholstery fabrics. The Sunday Morning Collection is the newest collection for the contract division market of the brand, which brings to mind the easy going vibe of weekend mornings. This collection offered by Zimmer + Rohde includes floral designs, stylish stripes, and block stripes in exciting shades that include bold magentas, softer pistachios, and painterly watercolors.
