About Kravet Fabric
Kravet Fabric Inc. is known for fabric offerings and textile collections that are diverse, cutting-edge, and guaranteed to be high quality and high performance. The company continues to produce and distribute some of the finest home furnishings for interior designers all over the world. Kravet Fabrics are available in more than nine collections, as well as through exclusive collections from some of the most influential interior designers in the market, including Alexa Hampton, Windsor Smith, and Barbara Barry, among others.
The Beginnings of Kravet Fabrics: When Russian immigrant Samuel Kravet began his tailoring business in Brooklyn in 1918, little did he know that his small venture would expand - many decades later - to become a family run dynasty and a leading provider of fine fabrics to interior decorators across continents. After tailoring for the elite residents of New York City in 1918, Samuel Kravet passed on his business to his four sons, giving birth to S. Kravet & Sons in 1924. Kravet Fabric, Inc. was established many years later, with showrooms and offices in New York, as well as all over the country and abroad. Kravet Fabrics entered the healthcare and hospitality market through the introduction of Kravet Contract. Further acquisitions of some of the most trusted names in decorative fabric design and production strengthened the Kravet brand. Lee Jofa, which carries the brands GP & J Baker, Groundworks, Monkwell, and Mulberry Home, was acquired in 1995. The UK company, GP & J Baker, was subsequently acquired in 2001. In 2008 Kravet Inc. purchased Sea Cloth and distributed it under the Lee Jofa brand. Kravet Smart was introduced in 2009, which aims to cater to the needs of the interior design market by making available high-value fabrics and furniture.
Beautiful Kravet Fabric Collections: Kravet Fabrics is renowned all over the world for the beauty and quality of its fabric lines. This large and modest family created a business that is not only fabulous but also innovative out of its founder's humble beginnings. The Kravet Fabric collections include Couture, Design, Window, Green, Smart, Soleil, Contract, and Guaranteed. The Couture collections from Kravet Fabrics take inspiration from the world's most influential fashion houses, while the Design collections include textile selections which are more fashion-forward in style. Window treatments are also available from Kravet Fabric, Inc., where the best sheers, tapestries, and embroidered silks come together to create a functional yet stylish collection. The Green collection makes available environmentally-friendly textile choices, fashioned from 100% recycled polyester, which are dyed and printed using water-based paints. Kravet Fabrics for the outdoors are marketed through their Soleil line, while hospitality and healthcare textiles are available through their Contract offerings. Kravet Fabric Inc. is also known for exclusive textile collections designed by some of the most in-demand interior designers today. Barbara Barry offers her latest designs through the Indochine collection while Michael Berman offers a sleek and sophisticated fabric and carpet collection. Fashion collections include Echo Design, Calvin Klein Home, and Ralph Lauren Home.
Kravet Fabrics in the News: The Indochine Collection was recently released last June 2011 by designer Barbara Barry for Kravet. This collection of fabrics, wall coverings, trimmings, and carpets are inspired by Asian designs, using an interesting color palette reminiscent of ancient Asia, which includes shades of silver, gold, lotus, and fig. Many of the Kravet Fabric collections have been featured in design magazines like Architectural Digest, Traditional Home, House Beautiful, Hospitality Style, Elle Décor, and many others. The versatility and innovation used in many of the Kravet Fabric designs, as well as its high quality and interesting color palette combine to make this fabric company one of, if not the premiere, family fabric companies in the world.
