About Donghia Fabric

Calling to mind the simple and the sophisticated, the expected and the surprising, Donghia Fabrics are an extensive collection of exclusive textiles with a fine, handcrafted quality. Representing the best of American design, Donghia Fabrics are known for complementary pieces that balance out each other and transform any environment to its intended vision.

Donghia Fabrics Quality and Design:  Donghia Fabrics started as &Vice Versa in 1968, which offered a collection of textiles and wallcoverings exclusively to architects and designers. Angelo Donghia, considered as one of the preeminent designers of America, established &Vice Versa after becoming partner Yale Burge Interiors, working mainly in interior design. In 1980 &Vice Versa became Donghia Textiles, and with its commitment to introducing the newest trends in the designer textile market, Donghia Fabrics quickly grew into one of the most trusted names in the industry. With the considerable success enjoyed by the company beginning its founding in 1968, the very first Donghia showroom was put up in 1976 in Los Angeles. Two years later, the company began to offer Donghia Furniture along with their Donghia Fabrics, allowing Donghia to expand its offerings from textiles to furniture and accessories.  During the height of his career, Angelo Donghia became the recipient of many awards, which steered Donghia Fabrics to further recognition both domestically and internationally. A few of the accolades of Angelo Donghia include the Annual Euster Merchandise Mart Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Home Furnishings Industry and the Tommy Award for Fabric Design.

Donghia Fabrics Collections: Donghia Fabrics understands the importance of utilizing the best, long-established techniques and modern tools in textile production. The use of both time-honored processes and advanced production machineries have allowed Donghia Fabrics to maintain design and construction quality and keep up with growing domestic and international market demand. The textiles manufactured by Donghia are comprised of plains, patterned, sheers, outdoor and indoor fabrics, as well as textiles designed as wallcoverings. The plains and patterned fabrics are produced through a variety of yarns, from chenille to cotton velvet to cashmere and silk. The indoor and outdoor offerings of Donghia Fabrics are made of 100% acrylic Sunbrella, ideal for outdoor installations and high-traffic use. Finally, Donghia Fabrics also manufactures textiles for wallcoverings, from textured linens and handcrafted grass cloths to printed silks.

Acquisition and Beyond: The Rubelli Group purchased Donghia and Donghia Fabrics in 2005, after the company operated as a private company when its founder passed away in 1985. The Rubelli Group is a well-known family-run business that designs and manufactures fabrics from Venice, Italy. Through this new acquisition Donghia is expected to reach bigger markets not only within the U.S. but also in Europe and overseas. The style vision of Angelo Donghia is still very much visible all throughout the company today, especially in the level of luxury, quality and comfort maintained by all of the Donghia products – from Donghia Fabrics to home furnishings and accessories. To carry on with this vision, the Angelo Donghia Foundation offers annual scholarships to talented young interior designers in the U.S. and also makes donations to design and architecture schools and in support of various causes beyond interior design.
