The Art and Function of Antoine Proulx:  Marc Desplaines established the company in 1993 together with his partner and brother Richard Desplaines. Marc worked in the fashion industry and also gained substantial experience working with Yohji Yamamoto as head of retail and public relations for his US fashion corporation. Antoine Proulx was created when founder Marc Desplaines decided to build furniture according to his specifications and taste, after finding no other option in the market. The standard wood finish on all the furniture pieces manufactured by the company is polycarbonate urethane, which is water based, weather resistant, and non-yellowing. Metal finishes in a variety of options are also available.
